Grammatical work

Erpenius loved Arabic for its cosmopolitan nature, with roots stretching from Africa to China. He wanted to understand Islamic culture and knew that to do this he would have to immerse himself in studying, writing about and copying Arabic books. This manuscript deals with the grammatical rules of Arabic and contains Erpenius’s own handwritten notes in the margin. North Africa, probably between 1613–1615 Arabic; paper CUL MS Ff.5.11 (1)
