Following Erpenius’s death from plague in 1624 at the age of 40, his colleagues celebrated his achievements in printed form. This volume was published by the scholars Gerardus Joannes Vossius (d. 1649) and Petrus Scriverius (d. 1660). It includes the funeral oration ‘on the death of the most illustrious and distinguished man Thomas Erpenius, Professor of Oriental Languages’, and a list of his printed books and manuscripts.
