Sinclair's Computer Age

<p>In 1980, Clive Sinclair shifted his attention from&nbsp; consumer electronics to the emerging world of personal computing. His goal was to produce powerful yet affordable computers to use in homes, schools, and small businesses. Early successes including the ZX80 and ZX81 proved low-cost microcomputers could reach a mass audience.</p> <p>The iconic ZX Spectrum went on to inspire a generation of programmers. Later models, prototypes, special editions, and export variants, alongside a thriving culture of modification and home-built peripherals demonstrated the creativity Sinclair&#39;s machines inspired.</p> <p>Though commercially not always successful, Sinclair&rsquo;s ventures helped democratise computing. He influenced both hardware design and the software industry in the UK and overseas.&nbsp;</p>
